Who Is Functional Interval Strength Training?

Functional Interval Strength Training (F.I.S.T.) was developed in 2006 by Bob and Ramona Pursley.

Both Robert and Ramona are certified Personal Trainers with more than ten years of experience in various areas of training. Ramona is also a Certified Massage Therapist. Both Bob and Ramona are competitive athletes.

After years of developing the Personal Training Departments for a local Golds Gym Franchise, they decided that it was time to create Functional Interval Strength Training.

Bob has been a Personal Trainer for ten years and a competitive athlete for over 30 years. Bob has competed in wrestling, bodybuilding, cycling and decathlon. Most recently Bob has started competing in adventure sports such as SPARTAN and has adopted that training and incorporated it into his training curriculum.

Ramona has a background in long distance running (marathons and 10k), cycling and powerlifting.

Both Ramona and Bob are repeat medal winners in the Western States Police & Fire Games in these sports.

What Is Functional Interval Strength Training?

Functional Interval Strength Training is a system of training for the average everyday person who wants to maintain strength, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance so they may enjoy a longer fit life.

F.I.S.T. Fitness is based on a system of interval training which consists of the following: cardio, body weight based exercises, weight training, balance and flexibility.

Each one of these areas is touched on during the personal training session which is approximately one hour long and designed specifically for the individual client. The additional key to this program is the variety of exercises - no two work outs are ever the same.

Each client is evaluated prior to training sessions to determine fitness level, medical status and to determine their fitness goals. Once the evaluation is done a customized plan is developed for the client.

In addition to personal training sessions, F.I.S.T. also offers group classes.

Who Is Functional Interval Strength Training For?

F.I.S.T. is for anyone over the age of ten, whether a competitive athlete or someone who just wants to maintain or start a healthy lifestyle. F.I.S.T. was designed so that anyone can do it and carry it home, away from a gym setting. It gives clients the base and tools to continue with this program long after they have left the direction of the trainer.

F.I.S.T. is designed for the "baby boomer" generation who wants to maintain bone density, flexibility, muscular and cardiovascular fitness to extend their life but everyone can reap benefits from our training.

F.I.S.T. also offers sports-specific training for anyone participating in various sports in high school, college or organized events.
